The membership dues include dues paid to Toastmasters International plus extra funds applied to supplies for the Club.
Lunch
The Gallery Restaurant at the The Bay Store serves lunches at our meetings and requires our Club to order a minimum of 12 lunches each Tuesday to ensure that our room is reserved.
Commitment Expected
Our club is made up of a variety of business men and women who have busy schedules. Many members have accommodated the meetings as part of their development plans and others try to attend as often as possible. This is an investment in you – the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. You will discover your own unique speaking style but you need to practice to improve. Each meeting provides numerous speaking opportunities – chairing and hosting a meeting, delivering a grace and toast, tip, word of the day, tip, joke as well as impromptu speaking, delivering a prepared speech and giving effective evaluations.
Experience Level in the Club
At present, we have balanced experience in our Club. There are members who are starting out, half way or closing in their Competent Communicator award (CC) and others who have their CC’s and are working on the 3 levels of Advanced Communicator (AC) awards. By actively participating in each meeting, members are able to polish and enhance the skills they already have and learn new ones. The idea is to raise the bar a little every time you get up to speak.
When You Become a Member
When you join, you will receive a New Member Kit in the mail from Toastmasters International and your name will be added to their mailing list for 'The Toastmaster' magazine. In the meantime, your Ice Breaker will be scheduled, you can participate in Table Topics and take on a meeting role such as timing the speeches, presenting the grace and toast, word, tip, or joke of the day.
